Welcome to our new Readers!

Please join us in welcoming Jennifer van Veldhuisen, Andrew Osmond, and Brad Fry to the List.

Beginning life at the Bar is an exciting leap, and we’re here to make sure it’s a supported one.

Here’s to your first of many rewarding years at the Bar. We’re proud to stand beside you as you begin this next chapter in your career. Brad Fry Brad brings more than ten years of experience in criminal law – and a strong passion for the field. He’s worked closely with defence solicitors, police informants, and prosecuting agencies, and brings a calm, thoughtful approach to his practice.

A former CPA accountant with an MBA from Melbourne Business School, Brad’s cross-industry experience makes him a unique and versatile advocate.

He accepts briefs in all areas of criminal and quasi-criminal law, including summary and indictable crime, bail applications, appeals, and IVO matters. Jennifer van Veldhuisen, Jennifer joins Svenson Barristers with a genuine passion for advocacy and a down-to-earth approach to her work.

Having grown up in regional Victoria, she understands the needs of clients outside Melbourne and is readily available to travel for matters across the state.

Jennifer accepts written and advocacy briefs for both defence and prosecution, plaintiff and defendant. In private practice, she welcomes briefs for summary and indictable crime as well as IVO matters, including VLA-funded work. Andrew Osmond, Andrew’s career before coming to the Bar is truly exceptional.

He served in the Victoria Police for more than 20 years, most recently as a Sergeant in the Prosecutions Division, where he has worked as a Police Prosecutor since 2017.

This extensive experience gives Andrew incredible insight into criminal law, police procedure, disclosure and evidence management, criminal investigations, and regulatory enforcement.

Andrew welcomes briefs in summary criminal defence, prosecution, and IVO matters, as well as family law, regulatory, and administrative matters.

He also accepts briefs in the Coroners Court and for regulatory bodies, and welcomes motor vehicle accident insurance work.

Outside the courtroom, Andrew is the Founding President and Coach of a suburban basketball club and an active advocate for youth sport and community development.
