Samantha has a broad practice in criminal, regulatory, and quasi-criminal matters across all metropolitan and regional courts in Victoria. She is an experienced advocate and regularly appears unled in the County and Supreme Courts of Victoria.
She has extensive experience appearing in complex criminal matters including appeals and at trial for homicide, sexual offending and complex fraud. Samantha has a broad practice in the summary jurisdiction with a particular interest in the Children's Court and appears in the criminal division regularly. She is well versed in the doctrine of doli incapax and the Victoria Police youth policy. Samantha has a strong interest in disclosure and public interest immunity claims as they apply to investigative agencies.
Outside of the criminal stream, she accepts briefs to appear in Intervention Order proceedings, and has an interest in insurance and associated litigation. Samantha also accepts briefs at inquests.
Prior to coming to the bar, Samantha spent time working at Victoria Legal Aid, and also served as a Senior Lawyer within Victoria Police. She is on the CDPP External Junior Counsel Panel, and accepts briefs in prosecutions arising from WorkSafe and EPA investigations.
