We’re very proud to share that List member Professor Arnold Dix has been honoured with a portrait in the Victorian Bar’s Peter O’Callaghan QC Gallery.

The portrait, by Australian-Hindu artist Murali Surya was unveiled in front of family, colleagues and friends. It was a thoughtful and moving evening, made even more special by a performance from musician Jason Vorherr, whose song ‘Arnold’ is inspired by his life.

Since coming to the Bar in 1990, Arnold has built a rare practice as both a barrister and engineer, and is widely regarded as a leading international tunnelling expert.

Many will remember his role in leading the rescue of 41 workers trapped in a collapsed tunnel in the Himalayas in 2023.

We’re so pleased to see Arnold recognised in this way. It’s a fitting acknowledgement of a remarkable career, and of the impact his work has had both here and around the world.
