Olive primarily practises in criminal law (prosecution and defence). She also accepts briefs in administrative law and in quasi-criminal law including regulatory matters, inquests and disciplinary tribunal proceedings. She has appeared in the Magistrates’ Court in filing hearings, contest mentions, committal mentions, contested summary hearings, bail applications, pleas and contested committals. She has also appeared in the County Court in plea, sentence, directions and appeal hearings. Olive has instructed in trials at the County Court and in appeals at the Court of Appeal.
Prior to joining the Bar, Olive was a Senior Federal Prosecutor for the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions (‘CDPP’). Having worked at the CDPP for nearly eight years mainly as a solicitor advocate, she gained exposure to and familiarity with various crime types including fraud, bankruptcy, drug importations, money laundering, cybercrime, child exploitation, firearms trafficking, human trafficking and slavery.
