Tanya has a broad practice extending across various areas of the law including Criminal, Family and Human Rights law.

She is a committed criminal advocate and accepts summary and indictable matters in both the state and federal jurisdictions. She also appears in matters involving disciplinary tribunals and investigations, Coronial Inquests, and victims of crime compensation.

Tanya accepts briefs to appear and advise in family law and associated matters including the Children’s Court and child protection.  Tanya will act in property and parenting matters in all stages of family law litigation. She also appears in IVO matters.

She invites appearance based, written drafting, and advice briefs as well as providing written opinions from law firms, in-house counsel and directly from organisations. Tanya welcomes regional and circuit briefs.

Prior to coming to the bar Tanya held roles as a Legal and Policy Officer at Victoria Legal Aid and also practised as a solicitor advocate in defence.  Through her experience she has had exposure to serious indictable crime matters including trials in the County Court, petitions for mercy, second and subsequent appeals, supervision orders and appeals to the Supreme Court of Appeal and High Court of Australia.

Tanya is reading with Paul Kounnas and her senior mentors are Felicity Gerry QC and Justin Hannebery QC.

Outside of her legal practice Tanya enjoys hiking, fishing and camping with family and friends.
