About

Manu Choudhary accepts briefs in a range of areas including Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), Workers Compensation, Personal Injury, Employment Law, Coronial Inquests and Family Law. He welcomes both appearance based as well as paperwork briefs.

Prior to coming to the Bar, Manu worked for over 10 years in the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) industry.

He  founded his own OHS consulting firm and provided OHS consulting services to businesses. Manu provided services in risk management, auditing, development of management systems, expert opinion, incident investigations, improvement notice compliance, occupational hygiene and ergonomics. Manu’s unique background has equipped him with industry experience in industries such as manufacturing, distribution, civil construction, transport, and retail.

Manu’s expertise in OHS includes:

  • Contraventions under the OHS Act 2004
  • Contraventions under the Heavy Vehicle National Law Application Act 2013 and Chain of Responsibility, including:
    • Breaches of fatigue management
    • Breaches of load restraint
    • Breaches of mass management
    • Breaches of speed management
    • Breaches of vehicle standards
  • Contraventions under the Dangerous Goods Act 1985, including:
    • Breaches of storage and handling of dangerous goods
    • Breaches of transport of dangerous goods by road or rail
    • Breaches of HCDG (High Consequent Dangerous Goods)
    • Breaches of explosives
  • Contraventions under the Food Act 1984

Manu holds a Bachelor of Laws, Bachelor of Science (Occupational Health & Safety) and is a qualified Auditor and Trainer.

Manu is reading with Anna Robertson and his senior mentor is Ian McDonald QC.

Outside the law,  Manu is an avid competitor in amateur car racing.
