About

Kate’s practice areas include institutional abuse, family and children’s law and media law.

Kate’s institutional abuse practice focuses compensation litigation relating to all types of abuse, including historical claims involving state-run, religious and non-government institutions. Kate represented abuse survivors in public hearings of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.

Kate also accepts briefs in child protection, intervention orders, family law and victims of crime assistance matters (VOCAT).

Kate has worked extensively in Aboriginal communities as a Lawyer with Djirra (formerly known as the Aboriginal Family Violence Prevention and Legal Service Victoria). She is a member of the Victorian Bar’s Indigenous Justice Committee.

Kate is also interested in media law. She completed her Master of Laws research thesis in media law at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland.
