About

Andrew Kirkham QC has been a member of the Victorian Bar since 1967.  He was appointed silk in 1983.

He has practised in criminal law including in the High Court and in the case of R v Chamberlain[s] and later in personal injuries, over many years.

Andrew currently practices in Family Law and, since 1996, in Military Inquiries including investigating the 1996 Black Hawk and 2011 CH47-D helicopter, aircraft accidents and conducting the 2011 Skype Inquiry.

He has held a number of significant positions including Chairman of the Victorian Bar 1991-92, President of the Australian Bar Association 1991-92, Deputy Judge Advocate General of the Australian Defence Force 1998-2005 and Deputy Commissioner Independent Broad-based Anti-Corruption Commission [IBAC] 2013-16.

He received the award of Member of the Order of Australia in 2006 for exceptional services in the field of Military Law.
