About

Michelle predominately practices in Criminal and Family Law, helping her clients through what can be the most difficult times in their life.  Due to her 19 years’ experience in the legal industry, Michelle has a strong sense of justice and is committed and determined to ensure her clients obtain the best possible outcome.

Michelle also has significant research and analytical skills, having contributed to key submissions made to organisations such as the Victorian Law Reform Commission, the Coronial Council of Victoria and the Sentencing Advisory Council over the past five years.

Prior to signing the Bar roll, Michelle was a Senior Solicitor Advocate with the Office of Public Prosecutions, regularly appearing in the Magistrates’, County and Supreme Courts prosecuting criminal matters.  She has extensive advocacy experience, having appeared in:

  • Bail applications in the Magistrates’, County and Supreme Courts;
  • Summary pleas;
  • Applications for summary jurisdiction;
  • Committal mentions;
  • Contested Committals;
  • Appeals against Conviction and Sentence in the County Court; and
  • County Court pleas.

Michelle appeared as junior counsel to the then Director of Public Prosecutions, Mr John Champion SC, in three matters, including R v Watson [2012] VCC 1029 and DPP v Nguyen [2013] VSC 477.

As well as her strong advocacy and analytical skills, Michelle has experience in providing advice on the application of specific sections of the Evidence Act 2009 and the Evidence (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1958.

Michelle has a strong focus on and commitment to advocating for an individual’s human and legal rights.  Michelle is looking forward to applying her established analytical and advocacy skills in the areas of Family and Personal Injury Law.

Given her strong interest in crime, in 2011, Michelle completed her Masters in Criminology and Criminal Justice.
