Dr Megan Blake welcomes briefs in public and admin law, civil procedure, guardianship, regulatory, intervention orders and family law matters.  Megan has a particular interest in matters involving human rights and international rights standards.  Megan is comfortable with challenging statutory interpretation, judicial review and appeal matters. Megan has a warm and engaging rapport with clients and solicitors.  Megan accepts briefs for advice and advocacy, and appears alone or led by seniors.

Megan’s aptitude for legal analysis and her exceptional writing skills set her apart from other barristers of her seniority.  Megan has provided written submissions on various instruments, including for the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women committee, the UN Special Rapporteur on Violence Against Women and Girls, the Office of the Prosecutor and been part of consultative panels with the Special Rapporteur, as appointed by the United Nations.

Megan brings a wealth of prior experience to her practice at the Bar.  She has had a career encompassing teaching, lecturing and legal research.   Megan holds a PhD in English (Monash), a Bachelor of Laws (Melbourne) and a Graduate Diploma of Secondary Education (Monash).  Megan is an author of legal textbooks for VCE Legal Studies.

Prior to coming to the Bar, Megan worked at various legal clinics including Essendon Community Legal Centre and the Feminist Legal Clinic.
