ADR & Mediation:

Steven is a nationally accredited Mediator through the Resolution Institute and is an accredited Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner (FDRP) through the Attorney-General’s Department.

With 25 years legal experience across commercial and civil litigation, administrative, public, criminal and family law, Steven is available to act as mediator in a wide variety of matters.

Barrister Practice:

As a Barrister, Steven accepts briefs in various practice areas including social justice & human rights, immigration, administrative & public law, crime, family and intellectual property law. He will appear in all metropolitan Courts, as well as VCAT.  Steven also has a special interest in Disciplinary Hearings and Coronial Inquests.  Steven welcomes both advice and appearance based briefs and is open to Direct Access matters where appropriate.

Having started out in Victoria, in 2020 Steven returned to Melbourne after seven years practising in Western Australia. Steven was a member of John Toohey Chambers in Perth during his time in WA and appeared in various Courts and Jusrisdictions across the South West region of Western Australia from Perth to Albany via Margaret River.

Prior to coming to the Bar, Steven was a Senior Associate at Charlesworth Josem Partners, and then in sole practice, where he practised in commercial litigation, intellectual property, and crime.

Steven is a continuing Board Chair of the National Justice Project (a not-for-profit human rights law firm) and was the President of the Margaret River Chamber of Commerce between 2016-2020, an Executive Board Member of the South West Chambers of Commerce & Industry, a Board Member of Nature Conservation Margaret River Region, Board member of West Australian Music (WAM) and is a continuing Board Member of the Melbourne Montessori Foundation.

In his spare time Steven is an avid Bird & Nature photographer aka @estebanthenatureman on Instagram and Facebook and enjoys bushwalking, music & way too many podcasts.
