About

Raymond accepts briefs for both written work and to appear in various courts and tribunals. He welcomes briefs in criminal and quasi criminal matters, public and administrative law matters and matters relating to children and young people.

Raymond has extensive written and oral advocacy experience, derived from working as a Senior Lawyer and Prosecutor with the Victorian Police and as a solicitor at the Child Protection Litigation Office at the Department of Health and Human Services. He also has extensive experience in advising government through his work as a legal officer, with the Department of Home Affairs.

Raymond spent 3 years with the Victoria police and most recently, where he prosecuted in the Magistrates’ Court of Victoria with the Specialist Sex Offences Prosecution Unit. He has appeared in all stages of summary criminal proceedings including summary contest hearings, bail applications and prohibition order applications. He also has experience in specialist therapeutic jurisdiction of the Drug Court and with Civil Intervention Orders. Raymond will accept briefs for both the prosecution and defence. 

Raymond also has a background in administrative and immigration Law. Before moving to Victoria, Raymond spent 6 years with the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (now Department of Home Affairs). As a member of the Legal Opinions Team he has experience providing written advice on a range of administrative and immigration law matters. He has experience advising on matters concerning statutory interpretation and on proposed amendments to legislation.

Having also spent time working with the Department of Health and Human Services at the Child Protection Litigation Office, Raymond has appeared extensively in the Children’s Court in Child Protection matters.
