Erik accepts briefs in state and federal criminal law, public law and commercial litigation. Erik has a particular interest in the intersection of commercial interests and the public law and welcomes both appearance based as well as advisory briefs. Erik encourages electronic briefs and is committed to data security. He is reading with Patrick Doyle and his senior mentor is Andrew Palmer QC.
Prior to coming to the Bar, Erik was a Senior Solicitor at the Office of Public Prosecutions, Victoria. In his five years at the OPP Erik regularly appeared or instructed in the Magistrates’ Court, County Court, Supreme Court and Court of Appeal across a broad range of criminal law matters.
Erik also worked in the Policy and Specialised Legal Division within the OPP where he provided specialist advice on complex legal problems and policy issues, including matters that related to administrative law, coronial referrals, international extraditions and serious offender supervision orders. Erik also has experience in regulatory matters including workplace health and safety, consumer services, discipline, transport and environment protection.
Earlier in his legal career, Erik was at the Judicial College of Victoria where he developed judicial education training and publications. He interned with judges of the United States and Minnesota District Courts, as well as Minneapolis complex financial litigation firm Briol & Associates, LLC (now Briol & Benson, PLLC).

Outside of legal practice, Erik volunteers as a newsreader with Vision Australia Radio. He also regularly judges and coaches university mooting teams. He is a sessional academic with the Deakin Law School.
