About

Phil Simpson is a Barrister of over 20 years experience with a defence criminal practice.

Phil specialises in traffic offences in particular, with a wealth of experience in Road Safety Act matters including driving whilst suspended, hoon driving, dangerous driving, drug and drink driving. In addition to this Phil accepts briefs in Penalty Enforcement Warrants (e.g., Sheriff matters, especially those involving unpaid road toll fines).  Phil also welcomes general summary crime briefs.

Phil has a proactive approach to these matters and is successful in negotiating and obtaining favourable settlements and outcomes for his clients.  Phil accepts briefs in the traditional way (through solicitors) but also directly with clients where funds are paid into the Clerk’s Trust Account.

Phil ensures clients feel heard and appreciates that going to Court is a stressful time for clients. Phil is approachable, clear and pragmatic with advice and is results focused.

Phil also has degrees in Arts and Theology. Outside of the law, Phil is a car enthusiast and is a co-founder of the community group ‘The Shed Door’ based in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne.
