About

Lisa has a diverse public and private law practice, with a special interest in matters that involve elements of both criminal law and public law.

She accepts briefs in a broad range of areas, with a particular focus on:

  • Criminal Law
  • Coronial Inquests
  • OH&S and WorkSafe
  • Professional Disciplinary Proceedings (VCAT)
  • Anti-discrimination Law and Human Rights

Lisa has appeared in criminal, quasi-criminal, civil and administrative law matters at all levels and in a number of different jurisdictions, including at the Magistrates Court, County Court, Supreme Court, Family Court, Federal Circuit Court, Fair Work Commission, Children’s’ Court, and at VCAT. Her work extends to appearing at all Melbourne Metropolitan and regional courts across Victoria.

Recent Experience

Lisa recently appeared at the Coroners Court on behalf of the family of the deceased in the Inquest into the Death of Snezana Stojanovska. 

Lisa also appeared at the Coroners Court in 2016 as junior counsel on behalf of the family of the deceased in the Inquest into the Death of Brenda Claire Goudge.

Lisa has also acted as junior counsel in a number of County Court jury trials in both the criminal and civil jurisdictions.

Prior Experience

Prior to coming to the Bar, Lisa had extensive exposure and experience as an Associate at the County Court of Victoria. In the criminal division she was Associate to His Honour Judge Pilgrim and His Honour

Judge Montgomery, and previous to that Senior Associate to Her Honour Judge Kennedy, head of the commercial list.

In addition to her work as a barrister, Lisa is a Teaching Associate at Monash University Law School in the area of Criminal Law. She is also actively involved in providing pro bono assistance to the community as a member of the Victorian Bar Duty Barrister Scheme and through Justice Connect.

Lisa is completing a Masters of Public and International Law at the University of Melbourne. She has a developing practice in international public law matters, with a particular interest in international criminal law, security and human rights law.
